In 2014, it was opened to the public. The Arboretum has diverse plant and animal resources, and the largest ancient tree clusters in urban Beijing. During migration seasons, many rare bird species can be spotted here, earning arboretum the nickname "Magic Forest" among bird-watching enthusiasts.天坛科普园始建于20世纪80年代，曾作为北京市园林学校教学实训基地，2014年作为科普园地向公众开放。园内林木茂盛，动植物资源丰富，拥有北京城区数量最多、面积最大的古树群。在迁徙季，很多罕见鸟种会出现在这里。因此，该园地被观鸟爱好者称为“魔术林”。
