Longxugou 龙须沟

Longxugou (Dragon Beard Ditch), a man-made sewage canal in southern Beijing, was first constructed during the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty. After the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty, it gradually degenerated into a stinking ditch, and the surrounding area became a slum.
