Feng Youlan (馮友蘭; Feng Yu-lan; 4 December 1895 – 26 November 1990) was a Chinese philosopher, historian, and writer who was instrumental for reintroducing the study of Chinese philosophy in the modern era.Feng Youlan enrolled in the Department of Philosophy at Columbia University in New York in January 1920 and received his doctorate in 1923. In 1931 and 1934, he published theHistory of Chinese Philosophyin two volumes. In 1952, Feng Youlan was transferred from Tsinghua University to the Philosophy Department of Peking University and moved into the "Sansong Tang" in Yannanyuan. Between the ages of 84 and 95, Feng spent 11 years rewriting theHistory of Chinese Philosophyat Sansong Tang via dictation to his pupils.冯友兰1920年1月入纽约哥伦比亚大学研究院哲学系,1923年获得博士学位。1931年和1934年出版《中国哲学史》上下两卷。1952年,冯友兰从清华大学被调至北京大学哲学系,入住燕南园“三松堂”。在84到95高龄的11年间,他在三松堂通过口述的方式重写《中国哲学史》,成就了《中国哲学史新编》。
