The Ruins of Capital City of Six Dynasties Period

Jiankang

Localed in?Hanfu?Street of Xuanwu District and Nanjig?Library of Daxing Palace, etc, it is rated as the culture relic protection site of Nanjing. Jiankang is one of Nanjing's ancient names, which was the capital of six dynasties, including Eastern Wu,Eastern Jin, Song. Qi, Liang and Chen (It was called Jian Ye in Eastern Wu ). The Palace -City is the major component of Jiankang City, guarded by several castles, such as Stone City and White Stone Fortress, etc. Jiankang had a continuous expansion of construction during the Six Dynasties period and reached a peak in the Liang Dynasty when it became the poltical, economic and cultural center. In th 9th year of Kaihuang period in Sui( 589). the cily palaces of Jiankang were flattened and transformed into farmland after Sui destroyed Chen 2000 vears later, several ruins of Jiankang were continually discovered undemeath the city of Nanjing.
